Today marks the launch of United Robot Alliance Blog. This site is dedicated to the documentation of my successes, failures and general experiences in building the life size Robots from the TV series and Movies.
The first of these Robots and Droids to be completed is the B-9 Robot from Lost in Space. Phase One was completed in December 2005 after approximately 10 months of work. He was basically just a blinking, talking static display. He is currently undergoing several modifications and upgrades that is scheduled be completed by March 2009. He will be controlled by Spektrum 7 channel Radio Contoller and will be fully mobile.
I have had custom phrases or "lines" recorded by the same actor that was the voice of the Robot in the 1960's television series.
My next project will the famous Droid R2-D2 of Star Wars fame. He will also be full size and fully mobile. I have already purchased numerous parts including an all aluminum frame and laser cut dome. This project will offically be launched in May 2008 with an anticipated completion date of Dec 2009.
I am hosting a Robot Convention in conjunction with Starfest in April of this year and my Robot, along with two others, will be displayed so come out and get your picture take with one of the most Famous Robots of all time.
